Volunteer Opportunities

Have you thought about volunteering your time? Are you looking for a dynamic place to volunteer? Would you like to join a team of fellow volunteers who are dedicated and committed to helping others?

Volunteer Arne Eriksen, holding I am the patient experience signSkagit Regional Health has many volunteer opportunities for people looking to provide a helping hand:

  • Answer questions
  • Deliver mail to departments
  • Escort patients and visitors
  • Deliver “concierge” items, from newspapers to coloring books, which brighten a patient’s stay
  • And many more

With two hospitals – Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon and Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington – plus more than two dozen outpatient facilities stretching from Granite Falls to Oak Harbor, there are many choices for volunteer service.

“We are looking for friendly, articulate and customer service oriented people who enjoy an active volunteer experience,” said Volunteer Coordinator John Gates, who helps organize and select volunteers.

Volunteers are asked to make a 100-hour commitment and to select a consistent schedule with weekday shifts running from 8 a.m. to noon or noon to 5 p.m.

Prospective volunteers fill out an application form and are invited in for an interview. When selected, orientation including an employee health screen, tours and some homework will follow. Volunteers start at the Information Desk which provides an overview of what’s going on in and around the health care system.

Join our team of volunteers. To get an application, drop by Skagit Valley Hospital and ask the volunteers at the Information Desk for a form or call 360-814-2497.
