Diagnosing Your Musculoskeletal Condition
Obtaining an accurate diagnosis is extremely important when it comes to identifying the right treatment and setting you on a path to recovery. Our experts at Skagit Regional Health are actually subspecialists. Meaning, if you have an issue with your hand, a hand and upper extremity orthopedic specialist will guide your care. Likewise, if you’re having issues with your knees, hips, or have sustained a sports injury, you’ll be seen by fellowship-trained physicians who specialize in these areas.
Why does this matter? Because orthopedic conditions can sometimes look like something else and be misdiagnosed. Joints, in particular, can significantly impact the function and pain of the spine and other joints in the body. The orthopedic and sports medicine specialists at Skagit Regional Health have the experience and expertise to know which tests to use and what to look for in order to accurately assess and diagnose these conditions.
Finding the Right Individualized Treatment Plan
Once a diagnosis is made, your care team will discuss treatment options with you and, together, you will decide what the next steps will be. In some cases, your condition might be treatable with non-surgical interventions. In other cases, surgery may be the best option. At Skagit Regional Health, our care team will be with you every step of the way making sure your treatment and care plan is right for you.
In many cases, we’re able to recommend non-surgical treatments such as bracing, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or other ultrasound-guided injections to get you back to everyday life. If surgery is needed, we strive for the most minimally invasive surgery procedures whenever possible and offer preoperative classes and education to ensure you know what to expect at every stage of care.
Recovery and Rehabilitation
Our dedicated team of specialists will work with you during your recovery and rehabilitation to ensure your quality of life meets your expectations. We provide instructions and home exercises that patients can do on their own. In many cases, physical or occupational therapies may be recommended to help you return to a normal, active life. For athletes, we offer our state-of-the-art Sports Medicine Clinic Gym to boost recovery and rehabilitation. We also educate patients on injury prevention to help them avoid setbacks or other injuries.
