Welcome to Graduate Medical Education
A hearty welcome to the Skagit Regional Health residency programs tucked into the Skagit Valley between the Cascade mountains and Puget Sound. Half way between Seattle and Vancouver BC our programs offer exciting learning opportunities for residents who want to manage a wide range of conditions first hand in a community setting.
Skagit Regional Health is proud of its Family Medicine and Internal Medicine programs. We have trained physicians who have joined our Family Medicine practice, become hospitalists in our Mount Vernon and Arlington hospitals and have then gone on to specialty training and are returning to join our medical and teaching staff. Our residents have established an excellent record of board passage. This is a testimonial to the dedicated faculty and rigorous curriculum.
Our GME program focuses on developing primary care physicians for community practice including women and children’s services and those who would like to return to deliver specialty care in a community setting. Outreach into the community is a mission driven part of our curriculum, helping to perform sports physicals at schools so children who have difficulty in reaching care can participate in activities, as well as providing onsite care for homeless residents in shelters.
Northwest Washington is home to people from many backgrounds, native tribal populations, migrants from Mexico, Appalachia, Russia, Asia and retirees from around the United States. We are excited about the developing research program designed to serve our community through a better understanding of all of our cultures and traditions.
We love our community and our people, we hope you will consider joining us as you expand your knowledge of medicine, in our mission of improving the health of our people.
