Respiratory Therapy

Bikers in daffodilsIndividualized inpatient services are offered to patients of all ages including diagnostics, assessments and therapy at Skagit Regional Health. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our outpatient services include EKGs for adult and pediatric patients and respiratory diagnostic studies, by appointment, plus a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. This intensive program can help patients with chronic lung disorders (including, emphysema, chronic bronchitis or asthma), reduce respiratory symptoms, improve functional independence and complications and reduce hospitalizations. The program is provided by a multi-professional team. Participants learn self-management and relaxation techniques to improve emotional well-being, skills to help regain control of their breathing and pursue activities to the fullest extent of their abilities. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30–3:30 p.m. for approximately ten weeks. For more information call 360-814-8368.

Skagit Regional Health also treats sleep apnea and other sleep-related issues in our Center for Sleep Disorders. Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person's breathing is interrupted during sleep. People with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep, sometimes hundreds of times. This means the brain, and the rest of the body, may not get enough oxygen.
