We love our volunteers! Celebrating Volunteer Week April 19-25

In addition to our compassionate and dedicated staff, Skagit Regional Health has a wonderful team of volunteers who selflessly give their time to extend compassion and service to our community.

Whether it’s by pushing a wheelchair, escorting a visitor, delivering newspapers or mail, staffing the gift shop, playing the piano or providing pet therapy, our dedicated volunteers play a vital role in creating the healing environment that patients experience in our facilities.

For some, it’s the beginning of a lifelong journey in healthcare.

Many of our clinical and non-clinical staff began their journey in healthcare as hospital volunteers. Volunteering in a hospital setting can help students gain exposure to the hospital environment of care, standards and processes.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, volunteering is an excellent way to learn about all that a hospital offers. Great volunteers can make great future employees.

Here are three ways to get involved:

  • Apply to be a volunteer: Volunteers must be 16 years of age and older.
    1. Complete the online application, including reference check and online orientation.
    2. Attend an in-person interview, placement and on-boarding session.
    3. Complete in-person self-guided tour and Employee Health screening.
  • Career Exploration Tours: These can be arranged for high school juniors and seniors within a specific department of interest by contacting department leadership directly. You may email [email protected] to obtain department contact information. Tours may not be available in all departments.
  • Job shadowing: Learn more about and apply for job shadow opportunities.

If you or someone you know is interested, get in touch!
