Our new Mission, Vision and Values
Over the years, Skagit Regional Health has evolved into a large and complex organization. We’ve expanded our locations, grown our workforce and offered more sophisticated services and with advanced technology. Our community has also changed. Data shows our service areas are poised for growth and with a population that is aging and more diverse.
Realizing this, our Board of Commissioners encouraged the development of a three-year strategic plan to guide our next steps. About a year ago, we started work with a consultant to guide us with the process. The discovery process was done with input from employees, providers and community leaders. It was important to get everyone’s perspectives about our current and future needs and what’s important. This input, along with population and financial data and industry trends, shaped our Strategic Plan.
The Board and the Executive Leadership Team started by evaluating our mission, vision and values. We wanted to make sure we had a new set of statements that are more aligned with where we are now and where we are going in the future.
Our new mission statement is “Exceptional healthcare, always.” Short, simple and easy to understand, it states perfectly what we aspire to do.
Our new vision statement is “Improving lives through compassionate and innovative healthcare.” Being compassionate is the very heart of delivering care. Being innovative speaks not only to medical technology, but to how we approach healthcare with an eye toward improvement and efficiencies.
Our new values provide the foundation for how we treat patients and each other.
- Excellence: We are committed to continuous improvement, professionalism and innovation in providing the highest quality care for our patients.
- Compassion: We strive to better understand our diverse communities and treat those we serve – and each other – with respect and kindness.
- Integrity: We act ethically and responsibly in everything we do and hold ourselves – and each other – accountable for our behavior.
- Sustainability: We understand the importance of limited resources and prioritize their deployment to maximize care and health outcomes for the communities we serve, now and in the future.
- Equity: We are dedicated to ensuring a delivery of a care environment where each individual has an opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Our values describe our core beliefs and influence how we act and make decisions.
We are excited for these new changes and look forward to seeing them intentionally applied at Skagit Regional Health.
