Overview

Julie Reed, MD, is a native Texan who considers herself a Tennessean after growing up in East Tennessee and completing her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee. Following college, she returned to Texas to earn a PhD in Cancer Biology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

After completing her doctorate, she moved to the Seattle area, drawn by the mountains and the appeal of four distinct seasons. There, she began her career in biotechnology, spending several years in clinical affairs for a large biotech company, managing clinical trials and contributing to FDA submissions. When she learned she was expecting twins, she chose to pause her career to focus on her growing family.

During this time, Dr. Reed decided to pursue her long‑held aspiration of attending medical school, studying for the MCAT while caring for newborns. With the support of her extended family, she was able to attend the University of Washington School of Medicine while balancing the demands of training and raising three young boys.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoys playing video games and building Legos with her children and husband, cuddling with her dogs and cat, caring for her collection of rare tropical houseplants, crafting and hoping to one day have enough time to return to hiking and backpacking.
