Dr. Chorng-Yu (Elizabeth) Chao was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States at the age of nine. She grew up in New Jersey, then moved to Southern California to attend University of California San Diego, where she graduated with a degree in Cell Biology/Biochemistry. She then worked in early drug discovery research for several years before studying medicine at Kansas City University. Dr. Chao chose internal medicine because she wanted to have a more personal connection with her patients and be able to help address all aspects of their health. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, traveling, watching documentaries, learning about other cultures and cooking ethnic food.
