MOUNT VERNON – Public Hospital District No. 1, Skagit Valley Hospital, doing business as Skagit Regional Health, is seeking applicants for a position on the Board of Commissioners. The deadline to apply for the position is January 4, 2019.
The vacancy on the seven-member board was created by the resignation of Al Dennis, RN, a member of the board since January 2016. Mr. Dennis announced his resignation effective December 31, 2018 to Board President Bruce Lisser. Mr. Dennis stated he has decided to permanently move outside of the hospital district.
The board has 90 days from December 31, 2018 to appoint a replacement. Mr. Dennis’ term was to conclude in December 2021.
“Al brought more than two decades of experience as a Registered Nurse at Skagit Valley Hospital to his role as commissioner, which means he has a passion for providing outstanding patient care,” said Bruce Lisser, President of the PHD No. 1 Board. “His insights and experience will be missed on the Board.”
Applications are available by request in Administration offices at Skagit Valley Hospital, 1415 E. Kincaid, or an application can be downloaded from the Skagit Regional Health website home page at www.skagitregionalhealth.org
In addition to the application form, applicants are asked to submit a statement of interest in the position, a resume and fill out a conflict of interest form by noon on January 4, 2019.
Applicants must be a resident and registered voter of Public Hospital District No. 1, which includes most of Mount Vernon, area west of the city, east to Big Lake and the southern portion of Skagit County including Conway and Lake Cavanaugh. All board positions are at large.
Once the application deadline has passed, the board will review the forms, narrow the list if needed, conduct interviews and make an appointment. The person who is appointed to the board will serve until the next election in November 2019 and the person elected at that time would serve the remainder of Mr. Dennis’ unexpired term through 2021.
