Billing delay for healthcare systems
Change Healthcare, a very prominent insurance claims and billing vendor in the healthcare industry, suffered a breach in their security identified on February 21, 2024. This breach has effected healthcare billing, authorization and prescription processing for patients and healthcare providers across the nation, including Skagit Regional Health (SRH). As a result, SRH is experiencing a billing delay of four‐to‐six weeks as we have switched to an in‐house process for printing and mailing statements. The breach has also affected insurance companies’ ability to provide an explanation of payment, affecting our ability to update patient accounts.
