Hospice & Palliative Care Month: Celebrating a successful year

The past year has been an extraordinary period of growth and recognition for Hospice of the Northwest. The achievements and accolades we received are a testament to the excellence of our team. Each day, our dedicated staff and volunteers go above and beyond to ensure the best end-of-life experience possible for our patients and their loved ones.

In honor of National Hospice & Palliative Care Month, we are proud to share some of our recent accomplishments:

Record-breaking census: We experienced unprecedented growth this year with a record-breaking census on October 25 with 245 patients on service across Island, San Juan, Skagit and Snohomish counties. This represents a 20% increase over last year and an astounding 140% increase since 2015. Hospice of the Northwest

CHAP Accreditation: We were once again awarded CHAP Accreditation in 2023, demonstrating our commitment to meeting the industry's highest nationally-recognized standards. The CHAP survey resulted in special accolades for our team - especially our Volunteer and Bereavement programs, which were commended for being among the best in the nation.

Hospice CAHPS Honors Award: This prestigious award from HEALTHCAREfirst recognizes agencies that consistently deliver high-quality care. Based on analysis of CAHPS survey results, Hospice of the Northwest currently scores above national average on all measures. We were the only hospice provider in western Washington to receive this honor in 2023.

Level 4 We Honor Veterans designation: We recently achieved a Level 4 Partner status with the We Honor Veterans program. This designation recognizes our commitment to providing specialized care for Veterans and their families.

Hospice of the Northwest is grateful to be a part of the Skagit Regional Health system and appreciates being a trusted partner in providing exceptional patient care. By working together, we can help more people access the care they need and deserve at the end of life.
