Foundation funds emergency clothing needs

Beverly Geer in front of Cascade Valley Hospital

On a daily basis, the Emergency Departments at Skagit Valley Hospital and Cascade Valley Hospital see patients after a traumatic accident, sexual assault or who are homeless. In order to effectively treat them, they may need to have their clothing discarded. Clothing can also become unsalvageable after the treatments

Due to concerns over safety and infection control, Skagit Regional Health is unable to accept donations of used clothing. All clothing items provided to patients in need must be new and unworn.

Recently, the Skagit Regional Health Foundation stepped in and granted $10,000 to purchase sweatshirts, sweatpants and warm socks so that every patient in need will leave our hospitals fully clothed in weather-suitable clothing.
