Cascade Valley Hospital Family Birth Center Now Offering Private Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum Rooms
The concept of LDRP rooms is that families complete their childbearing experience in one home-like room instead of moving to a postpartum room after the birth is completed. Families will now be able to settle into one room, allowing them to get comfortable as they prepare to welcome their new family member into the world.
“Our philosophy is to promote a family-oriented atmosphere during their stay,” said Tami Schnell, MHA, BSN, RNC-OB, Regional Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Skagit Regional Health.
The change in philosophy is due to patient feedback and CVH providers who wanted to offer more family-centered care. This will result in less moving of patients, providers will know exactly where each patient is during the duration of their stay and patients may now get the same registered nurse throughout their stay.
The change from LDR to LDRP has been a slow but exciting process over the last couple of months. The rooms received new furniture and the unit nurses provided input on room setup, paint colors, decorations and more.
“The CVH staff are highly experienced to take care of each family from admission to discharge,” said Schnell. “Now families will stay in one room during their experience. The same compassionate care at CVH continues.”
