Progress continues on Mount Vernon Surgery Center
Community, Surgical Services, HospitalProgress continues on Mount Vernon Surgery Center
Construction of the new Skagit Regional Health – Mount Vernon Surgery Center continues and will feature some major milestones in the next few weeks.

During the opening few days of October, a major delivery of concrete will take place as the BNBuilder crew completes the building’s slab on grade over several days. This big concrete pour will involve the arrival of a steady stream of concrete trucks to the site, which may cause some traffic challenges in the vicinity of 13th Street. Two more rounds of concrete deliveries will take place in mid-November to mid-December for the second- and third-floor pours.
Also in the early days of October, a crane will arrive and be assembled on the site. The crane will begin work on or about October 6, lifting steel beams in place for the building. The three-story structure will take shape over a two-month period from October through mid-December.
As the steel work wraps up, the builder – and all of us – will celebrate this major milestone with a celebratory “topping out” ceremony as the final piece of steel goes into place.
Construction of the Mount Vernon Surgery Center is expected to be complete in December 2023. The building will provide a much-needed resource for increased access to healthcare for the people of our communities. The center will be home to four operating rooms, three endoscopy suites and one procedure room; diagnostic imaging and several clinics in a convenient location with ample parking.
