Congratulations to Kim Brown, RN from the Operating Room for receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses! This award is presented to nurses who have been nominated as an outstanding role model for their clinical skill and providing compassionate care. Nurses who receive DAISY awards consistently meet the following criteria:

  • Interacts with patients, families, and staff in a professional and personable manner.
  • Demonstrates excellent medical evaluation skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent decision making capabilities.
  • Provides a consistent focus on meeting patient and family goals.
  • Is thoughtful and caring in all situations.
  • Works well with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates consistent use of the nursing process in patient care.
  • Excellent educator of patients and their families.
  • Generates enthusiasm and energy towards meeting the challenges of nursing.

“I have worked with Kim for nine years. In the time I have worked with her, I have seen her exude nothing but kindness. She has a calm manner about her. She advocates for her patients, as well as I have seen her advocate for her colleagues on numerous occasions. I myself have been the benefactor of such advocation a couple of times. She is a true leader and someone I look up to. Kim is planning to retire next year and I would love to see her win a DAISY before she does. Patients love her. She will be missed by all when she retires.” Lacey Bernick, Peri-Op Staff Nurse
