Skagit Regional Health launches Patient and Family Advisory Council.
Danie Turpin, Regional Director of Patient Experience

A message from Danie Turpin, Regional Director of Patient Experience:

As Skagit Regional Health’s Regional Director of Patient Experience, I personally know that working with patients and families as advisors at the organizational level is a critical part of patient and family engagement and a family-centered approach to improving quality and safety.

Patient and family advisors are valuable partners in efforts to reduce medical errors and improve the safety and quality of health care. With the goal of bringing perspectives of patients and families directly into the planning, delivery and evaluation of care, Skagit Regional Health is excited to announce the creation of our first Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) for Skagit Regional Health.

Patient and family advisors are individuals who have received care at Cascade Valley or Skagit Valley hospitals or clinics who are willing to offer insights and input to help us provide care and services that are based on patient- and family-identified needs, rather than assumptions of clinicians or other hospital staff about what patients and families want. We are looking for community members who are interested in becoming Patient and Family Advisory Council members and are apt at giving constructive feedback.

We will be holding an Advisor Informational Session where responsibilities and benefits of participation, logistical information (time commitments, training available, application process) and specific opportunities for advisors at Skagit Regional Health will be discussed. If you are interested in attending and would like meeting specifics or additional information, please contact Danie Turpin, Regional Director of Patient Experience at dturpin@skagitregionalhealth.org or at 360- 814-8525.
