Nurses complete 15-week medical-surgical course
Fifteen Registered Nurses from Skagit Regional Health recently completed a 15-week University of Washington Medical Surgical Review Course.
Jeff Mitcham, BSN, Clinical Manager of the Float Pool and IV Therapy facilitated the course with support from Emily Wilder, MN, RN, Clinical Nurse Educator.
This course is attended by representatives of many Northwest agencies and groups as far away as Alaska. The students gathered weekly to watch presentations by subject matter experts in a comprehensive update on key topics in evidence-based medical-surgical nursing practice. Each nurse who took the course plans to complete the medical-surgical certification exam.
According to the University of Washington’s Continuing Nurse Education website, “National certification is a mechanism for protecting the public by clearly identifying nurses and agencies committed to the highest standards of professional preparation, patient care and patient safety.”
