Clinicians Walking Down Hallway

At Skagit Regional Health, we recognize that succeeding in your new position begins with a successful orientation process. Whether you’re a new employee, returning to us as a rehire, are new to the health system or new to the area, our job is to make the transition to your new position as smooth and seamless as possible.

What to do Before Your Orientation Session

Of course, there are a few things you need to do before your orientation session. Please review our new employee checklist page to ensure you have completed all of the requirements.

Where and When We Hold Orientation Sessions for New Employees

All new employees spend their first two days attending our general New Employee Orientation. These sessions are held  session from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. at the Skagit Regional Health Business Center. The Business Center is located at 1515 N. 18th Street in Mount Vernon, just off College Way. The Business Center has a large parking lot with ample parking for all new employees attending orientation.

What You Should Bring to Your New Employee Orientation Session

We will provide you with a Skagit Regional Health information packet, writing utensils, as well as coffee, tea, and water. You will have a one-hour break for lunch. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, which can be safely stored in our lunchroom. Or, you can visit one of the many  restaurants close by. The Business Center is located away from our hospital in Mount Vernon, so you won’t have access to the hospital cafeteria during orientation.

How to Dress for Your New Employee Orientation Session

Please review our dress code policy before coming to your orientation session. Even though you will not be in your regular work area during orientation, new employees are still expected to follow the dress code while in training. We also recommend you dress in layers as the room temperature can vary during the day. We want you to be as comfortable as possible.

What to Expect during your New Employee Orientation Session

When you arrive at the Business Center, please check in at the reception desk. You will need to show proper photo identification to receive your Skagit Regional Health identification badge. After you receive your badge, we will direct you to the conference room for new employee orientation.

During your new employee orientation session, you will receive organizational information about Skagit Regional Health, review employment-related policies and procedures, and receive an overview of topics related to the important work we do every day to take excellent care of our patients.

If your position  is covered under a union agreement, you will have an opportunity to meet with a union representative as soon as New Employee Orientation has concluded.
