Choosing a Provider for Your Baby
If you haven’t chosen a provider for your baby, please ask your obstetrician or midwife. You can also call our Find a Doctor line at 360-848-5555 to find the right Pediatrician or Family Medicine provider.
We encourage you to reach out to friends and neighbors for recommendations as well. A prenatal visit during the pregnancy is suggested to find the right provider for your baby. Both parents should attend.
When selecting a provider to care for your baby, remember you are selecting someone who will probably be caring for your baby well into the teen years. The provider will usually outline a schedule for you on all well-baby visits and immunizations needed. When choosing your provider they may also ask for a detailed family medical history.
Take this time to discuss your concerns, anxieties and expectations on becoming parents. You may wish to take the time to discuss:
- Breastfeeding versus formula
- Circumcision
- How to reach the doctor after hours if your child is ill
- Office hours and fees
- Timing and frequency of office visits and immunizations
- Preparing older children for the baby
- Recommended books and community resources
- Becoming parents
