MOUNT VERNON – Skagit Valley Hospital Nurse Manager Tiffany Russell, MSN, RN, CCRN-CSC received the Emerging Nurse Leader
award from the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives (NWone) on May 16, 2018. NWone represents nurse leaders throughout Washington and Oregon and is affiliated with the American Organization of Nurse Executives
. Skagit Regional Health VP and Chief Nursing Officers M.J. Tyler, MN, BSN, RN, and Michelle Sand, MSN, BSN, RN are active members within the organization. Russell was honored with this prestigious award at the NWone Annual Conference, recognizing her transformational approach to leadership on a 31-bed Medical Telemetry unit at Skagit Valley Hospital.
Russell has 17 years of experience as an RN and obtained her Masters in Nursing in 1996. She became Nurse Manager of the Medical and Pediatric Care (MPC) unit in July of 2017, a unit caring for patients with diverse and complex medical issues. Russell has worked tirelessly as a Nurse Manager to develop a deep sense of teamwork and shared dedication to patient experience, quality and outcomes amongst MPC staff. She has stabilized staff turnover in the unit and sets a high standard of care for patients.
Preet Singh, MSN, RN, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer for Skagit Valley Hospital presented Russell with the award. During the presentation, Preet shared the following from Tiffany’s nomination, “Tiffany is tenacious and has a passion for nursing that elevates all of us. As a leader, Tiffany is one of our best. She won’t ask anyone on her team to do something she isn’t willing to do herself. Her team and her peers look to her for consistency and transparency, regardless of the situation.” M.J. Tyler, VP and Chief Nursing Officer of Skagit Valley Hospital adds, “Tiffany has a vitality that has refreshed and energized those she manages. The focus she has on providing a safe, quality patient experience is transforming her unit.”
Russell traveled to Stevenson, Washington to receive her award, accompanied by Brian Ivie, Chief Executive Officer, and several nurse leaders from Skagit Regional Health. Fellow Nurse Managers Bryce Dickie, MN, RN, CMSRN was nominated for Emerging Nurse Leader Award and Karen Watkins, MSN, RN, CCRN was nominated for Authentic Leadership Award.
