Fun Facts: Mount Vernon Surgery Center

Care in designing for great staff spaces
The second floor staff support space includes conference space, hotel work stations, locker rooms, a break room and other support services. All of these wrap in a private exterior staff patio. The integral break and patio space is nearly 2,200 square feet of natural light, northward views and comfortable ancillary seating

Planning for outages
The new Mount Vernon Surgery Center is equipped with generator backup that will operate 100 percent of the facility in the event of a power outage. The generator is the size of a small house and will be located in an enclosure that’s just more than 1,000 square feet. The generator has the capacity to run non-stop for at least 48-hours, with a fuel tank of no less than 3,400 gallons.

Positive Patient Experience - Waiting
No one likes to wait, but our new Mount Vernon Surgery Center clinical departments have been designed using a hybrid approach to waiting areas, which minimizes exam room turnaround-times and reduces congestion in registration, while taking full advantage of abundant natural light and the views afforded on levels 2 and 3 of the facility. Cueing areas have been positioned along the perimeters of the building in order to take advantage of the elevated views, while allowing for vastly improved heating and cooling control in exam and procedure rooms.
